Very nice. What is the flag made from? |

Thanks It's the fabric option from Maverick Models. |

Nice work. I like the fabric look of the flags and did that with some of mine also. |

Looking good. I enjoyed reading your blog and was interested to see that it's thought possible that the Tower Hamlets LTB might possibly have worn red coats. Any chance you could point me to the source of this gem of information? |

Thanks. Timmo, I can't for the life of me remember where I got that snippet from. It was some years ago, stuck in my memory. Could be utter nonsense of course |

Ah I see. I know many years ago there was a popular thought that some of the LTB soldiers wore red coats as it was a martial colour but there was never any evidence at the time to support the notion. I've painted my LTB in civilian clothing with some in sleeveless buff coats and some pikemen in the senior regiments in buff coats as I like the look, even if that may be a bit of wishful thinking. |

Iirc there was a reference found to londoners being arrested by redcoats during the 1st ECW but it turned out to be unclear whether the redcoats were trained band or one of the 'volunteer' regiments raised in London. My take is that we don't know for sure but I would go with un-uniformed as most likely but possibly red coats. I must admit my LTBs are redcoats as they do double duty for the New Model Army on occasion, but that's just a gaming thing. One other possibility to consider is sashes. Again its not known for certain but generally assumed they wore the orange sash. An alternative is the white sash which the LTBs wore back in Elizabethan times. |

Thanks Timbo. Very useful. Still not found the reference Orange sashes: must confess that there are a few old clichés prevalent with my ECW/BCW/W3K armies – Parliamentarians have orange sashes; Parliament's RoH have helmets, the King's RoH big floppy hats (no ostrich feathers though, I draw the line somewhere).
Wrong I know, but they are my pastiche of the wars. |

I have my foot organised so the bases have either pike or musket on them. I combine these to get the unit size I want. I then add commanded groups on round bases so I can change unit ID's at will for different scenarios. Those LTB command groups I have that were used by Waller have yellow sashes, as there have been the odd reference to this colour being associated with Waller. His personal standard and dragoon colours both have yellow fields. Those LTB command groups that served in Essex's army have orange sashes. |
