Monday Knight Productions Galactic Knights range (the old Superior Starfleet Wars range) has many fighters in their range, many very much resembling X-wings, Tie fighters, Vipers, Cylons etc. Here's a link to the Terran Starfleet page:

$3 USD for 10 fighters

Yes, Studio Bergstorm is the way to go. Great models, price, and service.

One of the things I like most about them is they are of a smaller size of the fighters that really looks good with other Starship lines.

Ground Zero Games do fighters in their Full Thrust ranges, e.g. link

Brigade Games will sort you out with what you need. Wide range in the same scale as GZG's Full Thrust models but nicer castings.

Here's a link to a likely candidate from Brigade Models:

Have you looked at the Star Wars Armada line? Is that still too large for you? Don't like the groupings?

I'm assuming that's quite available in the UK.
