Help required from those in the know. Thinking of adding the Federal New York 'Excelsior Brigade' to my 15mm ACW collection. My interest really lies in the 1862-63 phase of the war. Am I correct in thinking that the brigade's constituent 73rd (Second Fire Zouaves) & 74th New York regiments respectively, were dressed in 'Zouave' dress. OK, 73rd really were Chasseur dress. Companies A & B of 74th wore true Zouave dress. Was it ALL COMPANIES though of both regiments or just SOME COMPANIES that wore these? Do we know, for certain, in 1862-63? Thanks in anticipation for any help to remove some of my confusion and head scratching.

At Gettysburg we know the entire Excelsior Brigade wore standard issue uniforms except ONE company in the Fire Zouaves. Don
