Old… but still interesting movies…

"By Brandon Anthony: There is a lot to love about the genre of sci-fi and space fiction, particularly on film. Distorted colors and shapes, (literally) out-of-this-world special effects, and incredible feats of technological ingenuity allow viewers to reimagine the universe. And when intergalactic conflicts arise, impressive sparks fly…"

The best and most epic space battle of all film is in Macross: Do You Remember Love? (1984) 4,795,122 ships in the Boddole Zer Main Fleet vs Earth (One capital ship and a few escorts). Earth wins.

Well although Babylon 5 isn't a movie Severed Dreams is pretty great as is the Shadow attack on the Narn and finally Ivonova's attack on Earth Force with the White Star fleet. Those are all pretty cool combat scenes!

Can't forget the James Bond movie Moonraker (1979) where US special forces deploy in EVA suits and MMUs from a space shuttle to engage in combat with the Blofeld's orbiting space station and its own space soldiers in EVA suits – using lasers of course. Then the troops storm into the space station as James Bond does his Bond stuff. Ahhh…back in the days when Bond villains had high-tech secret lairs and armies of Mooks…

Battlestar Galactica (the most recent series), where physics actually plays a part in the movement of the ships.

Battlestar Galactica (the original series), where they had Vipers in spaaaaace! And some of the most coolest ever ship designs. Still love the origial viper and cylon raider.

@ Andrew Walters
Not technically a space battle, but AH AHHH!!

SBminisguy: weren't they US Marines in Moonraker?

Guy says space battles and then lists two ground battles, great logic.

I'd put Babylon 5 In the Beginning in there, the battle of the line. Though it's a TV movie.

Gunbuster had some cool, albeit short, space battles. The longest one was pretty annoying because of the voice acting of the older girl.

Gunbuster was epic indeed

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Operation Return, now while I love all the starships in the fight, what I cant stand is the plot armor or lack of, shields/armor. Any other episode, if it was a single ship on ship action, there would be shields involved. In this and many other episodes for mass combat, it was like they were fighting the borg.
Bleh !

I know, not a movie, but the B5 episode 20 in season 4, titled EndGame. This is the episode where Sheridan goes for earth and nearly rams a defense satellite to prevent a nuclear launch on North America, only to be saved by Earth loyal ship Apollo. Was on the other night.

Anime tends to be ignored which is sad, Legend of the Galactic Heroes have the biggest most epic battles ever made.

Battle of Klendathu? That's a joke. The whole movie was written as an insult to the book. It's like saying Space Ghost Coast to Coast is an accurate representation of how kick ass the original Space Ghost cartoons (or the comic book adaption) were.
