Just wondering which source to go with on painting the Dragoon Regiment La Reine. I see the Baccus guide has them in red coats w/ blue cuffs but Grant shows them in red coats w/cuffs also in red. Apparently the Grant info is based on the revised 1690 regulations?

Hall says that Lienhart and Humbert show red and red in 1690; Le Mercure Galant shows red and blue in 1680 and 1698; Corey shows red and blue in 1698; Paol shows red and and blue in 1715, "Les tropes de France" shows red and red 1692. Les Tropes de France en 1702 " red and red 1702. Robert Hall, et al., "Guidons and Uniforms of the French Dragoons under Louis XIV 1688-1714. L&H and Paulo should be considered secondary sources.

OK,….thanks for that info. As often is the case though there seems to be more tan a tad of source confusion.

Get the Hall CDs from On Military Matters (in the U.S.) or a U.K. site. I highly recommend them.
