Well, powder blue is a popular colour for wedding lounge suits.

Handlebarbleep27 Dec 2019 2:30 p.m. PST

Well, aside from the spotter point that it is described as Chasseurs a Cheval de la Garde, so the wrong colour?
(Green dolman, scarlet pelisse, as if you did not know)

Getting married in Uniform is not such a big deal, I did it, many soldiers do it. Even Princes do it.

I even had a friend who married as Robin Hood, Lincoln green, hat with a feather, tights (hose really), the lot. OK. So I live in Nottingham, so perhaps not so surprising.

Been looking for hussar dolman and pelisse for a good long while!

Nine pound round28 Dec 2019 7:40 a.m. PST

No, but I would fight Harvey Keitel in it.

Several times?

USAFpilot28 Dec 2019 10:57 a.m. PST

Too expensive, but I'd wear anything for the right woman.

I should say not! That's from the 3rd Hussars – I am holding out for the 5th or 7th

Nine pound round29 Dec 2019 7:21 p.m. PST

Many times. But less intimidated by his 7th Hussars rig than I would have been a few weeks back, having just read how LaSalle handled the 5th and 7th after they balked in a charge at – oh, where was it, Pultusk? Anyway, it's in "Crisis in the Snow."

Infernal Brigade, moya zopa, as the Russians would say.

SHaT198431 Dec 2019 12:57 p.m. PST

And yes, I've seen the pics, of, well heeled Brits (meaning aristos) in full reproduction 'Empire' uniform (both parties) and a few of the congregation also, marriage ceremony.
So it certainly does happen in the surreal world…

Is it me, or is anyone else getting a vibe of Brigadier-General Guy Loup and his Hussars in Dragoon helmets, from years gone by, when they look at this rig?

COL Scott ret01 Jan 2020 12:00 a.m. PST

A bit pricey for me, I will stick to my U.S. Army mess dress.

If it included a horse drawn carriage and a mounted escort in cuirasses, as you sure that is not a royal wedding you were looking at?
