…US Market "A couple of months ago, while reading the news from Arms & Hunting 2019 exhibition, I learned that the Barnaul Cartridge Plant has introduced steel-cased 300 Blackout ammunition. It was immediately clear to me that this ammunition can't be aimed to the domestic market because .300 Blackout is not a thing in Russia. You literally can't find in Russia guns chambered in .300 Blackout. Obviously, the largest market for this cartridge is the US commercial market and considering that Barnaul exports ammo to the US, it was not hard to guess that they most likely made it for the American market. Something I've been curious about concerning steel cased .223 ammo(,such as Tula,Wolf, etc.)as opposed to brass cased. Been reading up on the pros and cons of it,for use in any AR styled shoulder arm. Heard conflicting reports some saying never use, others saying can be used on very limited basis.(if you give your piece a good cleaning afterward) Fairly numerous comparison articles online. |

I've fired piles of both Tule and Wolf through my AR and my SKS with no problems, but they definitely burn dirtier than US-made ammo. And you can't reload steel cases, which drives my reloading buddy absolutely nuts! All that aside, I've fired the .300 Blackout and 6.5mm Creedmore, and of the two, I preferred the Creedmoor. Of course, both were through bolt-action rifles, so I can't speak to how well they would perform through an AR platform. |
