I cannot seem to find any information on the uniforms of Danish generals during the Great Northern War. The rank and file were in the slow process of switching from grey to red during the 1710-1712 period, which is my primary interest. Would generals have retained the grey coat or would they be among the first to convert to the red coat? Or would they have worn any color coat they wanted? |

My guess is that, like most armies of the period, there were no regulations for general officers' uniforms. Red or grey, or a combination of both, would be defensible. |

That is my best guess also. |

A painting of the surrender of General Stenbock at Tønning 1713 shows the Danish King and his staff in red. |

I have seen other portraits of Frederik IV in a red uniform. I would suspect that the highest ranking officers would also be expected to dress in red by 1710 but will allow a few to still be dressed in gray or something completely different. |
