Just got into WSS and got few first few units from the fantastic Ebor range. The French have a small flask which is presume a powder flask on their right hand side next to cartridge pouch. It has an edging with i presume could be metal or wood but also tassels hanging down. I can't see from any photos of either their or Front Ranks what colour they are..leather, fabric etc? Any thoughts please |

I think those are traditionally black. |

May I hijack the thread a little bit? It is still the French infantry in the WSS – did grenadiers generally have red ribbons on their shoulder(s) or only some units or not at all at this time? Any other distinctions for grenadiers? Thanks for any clues. |

Maybe this can help you. This small powder flask were called a "pulvérin". Pulvérin was also the name of a very fine powder used for ignition which was "pulverisée" pulverized. link Chevert |
