I had Human Interface Be a Better Human game for sale for a week in the Marketplace. (Now re-listed). It's a cyberpunk-themed board game with fantastic figures. The offer included the Core box, a full supplement box and 37 exclusive Kickstarter figures.

Not one offer or email. (cue crickets)

Why was this?

No interest in cyberpunk?
No interest in board games with miniatures?
Price too high? (now lowered!)
Shipping too high? (I can't do much about this…)
Need more photos?
Bad time to buy because of the holidays?

Thanks for your comments!

Not buying anymore board games.

komradebob20 Dec 2019 7:28 a.m. PST

Could be a combo of the above, or none of them.

I've put up adverts before, both here and other places, and simply had no responses. Sometimes it just works out that way.

Not a board gamer, so I'd only be interested in the game for parts--corridors and miniatures--I could use in SF skirmish. I can't see what either one looks like, and scale creep is getting to be a problem. I can do 25mm and 28mm, but it takes a certain amount of care. How big will those 32mm women and children be next to my 25mm storm troopers and Rebel Alliance? So I'd be paying a decent-size chunk of money, with no certainty I'd get anything useful out of it. Better to spend the money on a terrain system and miniatures I can see and which I know will fill gaps and be scale-compatible.

And, of course, the wrong time. Not just Christmas but year end. Money pulled from the IRA now will be taxed at a higher rate than money pulled out in January--and proves I can't budget.

My Christmas present to me was a unit of six 28mm War of 1812 US sappers with officer. I had pictures, they were to scale with my existing horse & musket troops, and they filled a gap in my OOB. They cost $23. USD If someone had advertised enough corridor for a 3x3 table (with pictures) and, say 50 figures maybe bigger than what I have but two units with sufficient internal variety for two units and no need to buy more--well, it would still have been a bad idea, but I'd have certainly have been more tempted.

Sorry. Not the answer you were looking for.

I rarely even look at marketplace and I generally don't import stuff from outside Europe.

Edit: So I went and had a look and I'd say the lack of pictures of the contents probably didn't help (I know there is a link to more pictures). I would have been interested in this if it was in the UK or Europe, but the price would have been costly for me, this time of year.

$180 USD is a steep buy in for a game I don't know much about.
More stuff is not a selling point for me (200+ cards, 100+ tokens, ie. a lot to keep track of)
No indication of what game play is like, a walk through of a turn or phase would be nice.
I don't surf the marketplace much.
I don't really have a gaming group, so this would sit on a shelf a lot for me.

Hi

Here's my 2 cents worth

No interest in cyberpunk?

it is a niche market

No interest in board games with miniatures?

Too many KS and scale creepy.

Price too high? (now lowered!)

KS Are generally expensive

Shipping too high? (I can't do much about this…)

No one every cares about the real cost of shipping. everyone want a refund if the postage rate was lower but never offer to pay more if it was higher.

Need more photos?

Of the Miniatures yes more is better, because most people are looking for figure with multiple game uses.

Bad time to buy because of the holidays?

Yes and No. Sale will drop off this week but exploded next week after X-mas.

I would list it on Boardgamegeek, the really Board Gamers collectors are there.

You win some. You lose some.

I already have quite a few of this type of dungeon crawler games including 'Space Hulk,' 'Blackstone Fortress,' 'Aliens vs Predator: The Hunt Begins' and 'Zombicide: Invader' so I'm trying not to buy another one since I seldom play the ones I have, as cool as this variation may be. Though I'll probably be tempted to get 'Starcadia Quest' when it hits stores.

I used to sell almost everything I put up, at prices that I could be happy with.

Lately, I have had almost no success, even at "just get it out of here" prices.

That's just my experience.

Grelber20 Dec 2019 9:25 a.m. PST

I've put things up for sale and had no bites at all. Put them up for sale a month or two later, and they get snapped up. Sometimes it's just a matter of who looks at it.
If it doesn't sell, wait a bit and put it up again.
That said, $180 USD is enough money that you aren't appealing to the "Oh, what the heck;" for me, that would be more of a planned purchase, and would represent several months worth of gaming budget.

If it doesn't sell this time, invite friends over to play a game, and post an account to stir up some interest.

Simple, no interest.

nnascati Supporting Member of TMP20 Dec 2019 12:09 p.m. PST

Schogun, I have several things for sale at present, most have been up for weeks. Not a single bit of interest. Frustrating to say the least.and I always provide pictures.

BuckeyeBob20 Dec 2019 1:21 p.m. PST

Read the reviews for this game on BGG. Not very encouraging at all. This could be an important reason for no offers.

So if anyone were to buy it, it could be mainly for the miniatures IMO. Are they worth the asking (+shipping) price?

deephorse20 Dec 2019 2:18 p.m. PST

There's a Marketplace board?

Supply and Demand.

For this game there is plenty of supply and not much demand. Look to eBay to sell your game because there are far more eyeballs there.

The good news is one just sold today on eBay for your $180 USD – but that included shipping.

There are numerous other current listings for less money on a combination of purchase price and shipping. Previous sold listings are all for less than you are asking.

The bottom line is asking price. Why would someone spend more for your new copy when they can get one for up to $70 USD less?

whitphoto21 Dec 2019 8:42 a.m. PST

It's tempting to me for the minis, but I already spent the hobby budget for the month and Chanukah is in two days so I can't justify spending that much extra… bad timing for me.,

mildbill22 Dec 2019 6:05 a.m. PST

All of our hobby stuff sells better in Jan. After the family gets their stuff, then the wargamers get their stuff.

joedog22 Dec 2019 2:23 p.m. PST

Why no interest in keeping the game?

Odd that you wonder why people don't want to buy something that you don't like enough to want to keep. ;)

Why no interest from my dice in rolling a two or better? I just got snake eyes!

cypherkk16 Feb 2020 7:55 a.m. PST

I'm interested. Don't go to marketplace much but I didn't see your post. Probably taken down now.
