Very impressed with Empress Miniatures new range of 28mm late-War British
link I cast around looking to see what precisely the Brits go up to after Arnhem and before the War end. Of possible interest to some, the Battle of Tripsrath. link By early November 1944 the American forces had taken Aachen and were about to launch their advance towards Cologne. However, before this action could get underway the left flank 9th U.S. Army needed to be secured and this task fell to XXX Corps, which included 43rd Wessex Division, now with the 8th Armoured Brigade under command. This planned action was given the codeword Operation Clipper. And a British report on a Operation Blackcock. Operation Blackcock was an operation to clear German troops from the Roer Triangle, formed by the towns of Roermond and Sittard in the Netherlands and Heinsberg in Germany during the fighting on the Western Front in the Second World War. It was conducted by the British Second Army between 14 and 26 January 1945. The objective was to drive the German 15th Army back across the rivers Roer and Wurm and move the frontline further into Germany link Both documents are well worth a look, full of interesting information |

Then, of course, there's the Scheldt battles for the Canadians… For which these figures looks just the thing. Just saying. Eric (Maple Leaf UP!) |

They very much seem to be saying to me: "What, we're leading again? " Great figures. |

The Empress WW2 Figure range is pretty amazing. The German Volksgrenadiers are the beat winter germans on the market. Maybe the best 28mm German figures period. |
