Did seeing the movie Army of Darkness influence you to get into Fantasy gaming?

JimSelzer10 Dec 2019 11:12 p.m. PST

Army of what?

Murray Quarmby11 Dec 2019 3:12 a.m. PST

What's Army of Darkness? Not actually a question – really an answer with context!

ZULUPAUL Supporting Member of TMP11 Dec 2019 3:20 a.m. PST

No I was playing fantasy games way before the movie.

Florida Tory11 Dec 2019 4:28 a.m. PST

Never heard of it.

Bigby Wolf11 Dec 2019 5:09 a.m. PST

No.

irishserb11 Dec 2019 5:25 a.m. PST

No. Like ZuluPaul, played fantasy before it came out, still haven't seen it.

No. I did buy an Ash figure, though, for my skirmish SF.

Wackmole911 Dec 2019 7:01 a.m. PST

Yes I started a Undead army for WFB right after seeing it.

The movie has affected my gaming by affecting the general population of SF/horror gamers and game writers. Never seen the movie myself.

"You got real ugly"
No game effect that I know of.

PzGeneral11 Dec 2019 10:34 a.m. PST

Other than quotes, no real influence.

"Groovy"

USAFpilot11 Dec 2019 12:36 p.m. PST

No, I never saw it.

My influence in fantasy war gaming came from reading LOTR and playing D&D.

Seen it, but no, it hasn't influenced my gaming.

Ragbones11 Dec 2019 4:11 p.m. PST

Yup. I have approximately 270 painted 25mm Army of Darkness figures from Leading Edge Games for a game on the Deadite assault on King Arthur's castle. There are currently 40 additional LEG AoD figures in the painting queue. Prior knowledge/viewing of the movie isn't necessary to play the game but timely quotes from players can garner bonuses and extra actions.

Perris070711 Dec 2019 5:59 p.m. PST

Seen it MANY times, but no, it did not.

21eRegt11 Dec 2019 6:49 p.m. PST

Was already fantasy gaming so simply loved it.

Old Glory Sponsoring Member of TMP11 Dec 2019 6:54 p.m. PST

Never gamed it, but have always loved skeleton armies every since the movie.

Fell out of my chair laughing, the first time I saw it… Great humor, love the movie, but started fantasy gaming years before I saw it. Cheers!

AoD did make me interested in playing an undead army. Something I'm just starting 30 years later for Kings of War.

But to be honest, Bed Knobs and Broomsticks was even a bigger influence!
