"Here are the official complete MRE menu listings for all production years. These menus (especially the older ones – I-XII) were put together by some helpful folk from Natick (via MREInfo's friend, Mirage). The later menus are from the Defense Logistics Agency…."

I ate some C-rations, back in the 70's. My best friend's Dad was an E-6, in the local US National Guard. He brought them home for us to try on camping trips. They weren't terrible, and, actually, they weren't bad at all, I thought.

MRE's are in soft packages, but the C-rations were in boxes and cans. They included a simple, but effective, can opener. It was quite fun, as a kid, to enjoy them. Cheers!

The can opener was called a P-38. The MREs were lighter and didn't have to use a can opener. Well maybe a bayonet or survival knife. evil grin

I think I'll stick with beef jerky and salt pork.

The heat tabs in the C-rats came in handy for other uses.
