I have been working with some of the "old school" 40k marines from my collection (and bitz boxes) this week, and thought I'd share some pictures and reminiscences about them.

Hope you find the post interesting and inspiring.

I bought 2 of those box sets when they came out. Always thought the "beakies" were the best Space Marines out there. More grunt like, less seals & do-dads on them.

I have two of those boxes myself. The only thing I didn't care for was the weird, squatting/hunched over posture they all had.

Great work!

The one true type of Space Marines – love the beakies and I have a box that I hope to be painting up soon

You can still make up squads from the new ranges but you have to look very far to find helmets – as well Forge World has resin beakies at a hideously high price

Check all the various bits sellers, particularly Shapeways.

Beakie heads are a popular option!
