Did pretty well out of it despite being beaten so often – perhaps others should try it? |

Mostly skirmishes gets the date of Suez wrong does not include Jacobite victories over British govt these were more significant than the piffle about capturing trawlers etc. Wonder what the psychology behind the whole thing. |

Good to see that the Germans won the battle of the Java Sea. This does seem to be a particularly odd post. This was a bit of a rant on a very minor forum over forum over five years ago. I'm not sure I see the value of recycling it. |

For having "the worst record", they did pretty good. Didn't they use to say the sun never set on the British Empire. Not bad for a little island. |

Well you've got to admire his dedication! Although I'm not sure that the failure to destroy a bridge counts as a significant, stand-alone military defeat worthy of its own entry! Rather undermines his contention, I feel. There was a video on YouTube showing battles won by country. To no-ones surprise Britain and France were way out in front of everybody else. These sort of lists are just the result of the length of time that we have been aggressive s stomping around the world picking fights… |

Jeeesuz! what did you Brits DO to this poor old sod? Not only was he WRONG in a number of cases, he used minor skirmishes in the AWI as battles, and he also took captures of multiple ships in a single engagement as separate victories. |

Britain "lost" Pontiac's Rebellion? By what standard? Lots of silly entries. |

I see Mel Gibson has been busy again … |

Mel Gibson…nice one! Of course, it doesn't reflect well on America. Just imagine how proud you guys could be if you had beaten a country that was, you know, any good during your revolutionary war… |

The list kind of implies that Britain's long and defining struggle with Napoleon should count as five defeats as opposed to one victory. It's an interesting way of counting. Good marks for comic effect, not so good for historical method Phil |

As a British person, and by extension a massive loser, I still get the sneaking suspicion that I'm still not quite as big a loser as the person sad enough to post all that up. I like the battles where he (I assume its a he) has put DRAW as the result, like the football pools. |

>Good to see that the Germans won the battle of the Java Sea No, no, no. They bombed Pearl Harbor. Every student at Faber College knows that. :) |

Missed out the Crossbarry Action (as well as e.g. Gledsmuir/Prestonpans among Jacobite engagements), but evidence of thoroughgoing, dedicated, even obsessive activity… |
