As the editor just announced the publication of a two volume book about the uniforms and the equipment of the French and German armies of 1870-71 I want to add the pdf with first details to the audience here: PDF link I'm happy that the most famous author about the French armies of the 2nd empire, Louis Delpérier, covers the French side, whereas I'm trying to do the same for the German site. As you may see in the announcement the books will be published in English, French and German. In case of further information announced I'll spread them here. Greetings from Berlin Markus Stein |

Oh, goody, goody. Surely this will become the "gold standard" for the uniforms and organizations of the German states and France for us aficionados. And it will be published at the beginning of the 150th anniversary of the conflict. Jim |

Thanks for the information Markus, I saw this previewed elsewhere, this is great news, as others have said, the minute the preorder is open on this, I will be ordering this two volume set, can't wait to get it……………. |
NapStein | 16 Mar 2020 9:22 a.m. PST |
The two volumes will be available from 4/4/2020 onwards … and the editing company provides some sample pages at link Greetings from Berlin Markus Stein |

Excellent news, Markus! I shall certainly order a copy, but one question if I may? The order form contains a section for the purchaser to insert their region. It includes "EU and Switzerland" as a region, but I can see nowhere that includes Great Britain. For the purposes of ordering the book, are we still considered part of the EU? Please be assured there is no political agenda in this question, just a desire to ensure I fill the form in correctly! |

I don't know the delivery conditions of the editor – but you may also choose one of his favorite companies, the "Berliner Zinnfiguren" shop in Berlin, which also sends figures and books allover the world – just go to link Greetings from Berlin Markus Stein |
Mollinary | 19 Mar 2020 9:44 a.m. PST |

Aside from the two sources in Europe, does anyone know if a book seller in the US will be carrying the English version of this book, thanks in advance………….. |
NapStein | 29 Mar 2020 4:01 a.m. PST |
The editor offers a special site for US customers at militaria.at – just click on the Stars & Stripes flag at the top and you'll be directed to the US section of his shop. In case you don't see the 1870/71 book just contact the editor by email directly. Greetings from Berlin Markus Stein |

The editor has an international Facebook-site, where you may get insight into the process of our book development as well as some smaller texts with images relating to the theme … just follow to link And indeed, it is on FB, but due to our restricted (corona-related) time a useful marketing tool … e.g. I don't have a FB account and will not create one but I'm able to follow the discussion of the FB-thread of the editor. Greetings from Berlin Markus Stein |

Historydude18 | 07 Apr 2020 6:57 p.m. PST |
I'll probably get it since I really like the FPW and this year is the 150th anniversary. |
Mollinary | 08 Apr 2020 11:24 a.m. PST |
I am so looking forward to this arriving! Sadly, Berliner Zinnfiguren are saying it is not yet in stock, and expect it to be despatched some two weeks after publication, so I have some time to contain my enthusiasm! |
Mollinary | 10 Apr 2020 1:10 p.m. PST |
But good news, BZF have e mailed me to say it has been despatched! |
Mollinary | 15 Apr 2020 10:04 a.m. PST |
And it arrived today. It is huge, beautifully produced and, quite simply, magnificent! Lots of photographs I have never seen before, including some truly impressive arrays of facial hair, particularly among the Germans. Congratulations to all involved, it is a fitting tribute coming out in time for the 150th anniversary. |
NapStein | 15 Apr 2020 11:58 p.m. PST |
Thank you, mollinary, for the kind words … indeed the hairdresses and beards should have been an extra chapter – curiously there were no regulations to the dress of facial hair, just influences by the kings and dukes or like in Prussia the Crown Prince. Greetings from Berlin Markus Stein |
NapStein | 16 Apr 2020 4:25 a.m. PST |
@mollinary: would you mind to contact me via stein@napoleon-online.de – I've a question about your statement regarding the book. Thank you Markus Stein |
