How big an army would you need to collect to play FOW at the normal 90/100 point level? Can a fun game be had at smaller points values in smaller spaces (say a 4x3 table)? Is a tank only battle viable? Thanks in advance. |

If you want to play on a 4x3 consider using micro armor. Given plenty of weapons have a 32" range, you'll really have no room for maneuver. But in 6mm with rulers marked in half inches your space is effectivly 6x8. |

You could also use cm instead of inches |

The 1st German & Soviet Eastern Front books have city fighting scenarios , which are on smaller tables . |

You could do 15mm platoon level skirmish games at that table size. You would have to individually base your figures though against the FOW standard group basing. |

Stick with larger table, but smaller point value |

I've played some great FoW games on a 4" by 4" table. In this game we used 50 points with mostly infantry and it gave a very satisfactory experience. Lots of room to maneuver if you go easy on the terrain.

Thanks for the feedback. @tgunner would a tank only battle at 50 points on a 4 by 4 work as well? |

I would say yes. 50 points is about a company of armor depending on what you get. A D-Day US Tank company of 12 Shermans (75mm trained/confident) sets you back about 43 points. Panthers and Tigers would cost WAYYYYYYYYY more. 12 Shermans spread evenly across a 4' board is roughly one Sherman per 4" of front. The game's command rules would force you to pull them into a 6" ring around the command tank so that force will comfortably fit on a small 4' by 4' table with room to spare. Just get a nice dollop of on the board and you're set. The game you see above had me and my son playing with pretty small forces. IIRC, I had a platoon of 3 Shermans and a pair of M10s on the board. I believe he had at least 3 STUGs on the board to support his grenadiers and we had room to spare for maneuvering. |
