I don't know what specifically is wrong with the Black Seas models but, the sterns always look off. Maybe the generic hulls forced them to over-simplify the galleries? They seem to stand too upright and square. In most ships of the period, the stern gallery had fair bit of curve across it's width and leaned back at least some… |

It's hard to put this in clear language but, from the front or side, they aren't bad and do a good job of presenting a fairly typical ship of the day but, from the back…? The overhang seems too abrupt, the counter is way too squared off etc… Take a look at the Meridian Trafalgar 1/700th HMS Victory – as an example: link |
