This is becoming sad. I was just asking a friend if he knew of any good replacements for the Warstore last night to try to give a good answer on this forum. Now this:

I just read the news on Facebook. :(

Hmm. That is interesting. What has changed in the market to cause this decision?

Several stores, like myself have been in business over 35 years. We are getting too old to put max effort into just making ends meet.
Those that have been in business for 15 years or less never found a pot of gold at the end of their rainbow.
The market changed significantly in the late 1980s. For stores manufacturers decided to make more profit by selling direct to players. Yes there was a time when manufacturers would not sale to players. You had to go to distributors and stores to get product. Board game companies expanded the market first in the mid to late 1970s.

On the convention side, I remember when manufacturers first started showing up at conventions in the USA. Miniature manufacturers and importers had always showed up at shows with exclusives being given to local stores to carry products if they did not display. Then they found direct sales as a gold mine and began showing up at shows more and more.
