It is better to spray the mini with clear varnish (Johnson's Future whcih apparently is nowadays called Pledge Floor Gloss used to be all the rage among serious modellers), then apply decals and the seal with matt varnish (or first gloss then matt).

Helps a bit with the decal edges. But even more useful are the decal chemicals like classic Micro Sol and Set or similar stuff from, say, Vallejo (Decal Medium/Softener and Decal Fix).

Lastly, I-16 saw also use against Finland, not only during Winter War, but during the (first year+) of Continuation War.

Lonkka1Actual,
I have been a Future user for ages. These decals were extraordinarily stiff and I was out of Solvaset and got interrupted as the decals were setting so some of the edges got past me. I didn't know that they had changed the name of Future. I bought two quarts of it about a decade ago and am only now using the last of the second bottle. Does anybody know if Solvaset is still in production? It was my favorite for ages.
