So, assuming you've looked at the calendar, and realized that next month is the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, what rules, miniatures scale(s), and scenario(s) are you planning to use for your game(s)?

OK 15mm Bolt action. "Those Damned Engineers" Vs. part of Peiper's column at a lonely Bridge crossing.

We'll be doing the third table of the Peiper's Charge mini-campaign, using FOW, and 15mm troops.

I'd love to do some 28mm skirmish, or tank battles too, using the old Battleground or Tractics rules, and possibly WaT for the tank battles.

I think it'd be fun to do some tank battles in 1/144th scale too, in order to permit more maneuvering room on the tabletop.

American Engineers defending a bridge or small road through a defile, with just a few men, rifles, mines, and explosives seems like a must-run scenario or two, also.

Home-brew rules for a 15mm company level game. All players in semi formal holiday attire. ;)

Got a big battle planned in 28mm. Doing some Panzer Brigade 150 for it.

Marc33594: That Rapid Fire book looks interesting. Can you tell me more about geographic area (in real terms not size of table) depicted in the scenario maps. Also, what is the typical size of engagements, order of battle? Thanks, Dan

Dan;

Here is a link to a PDF from the Rapid Fire site showing a map of one of the smaller battles:

Here is a link to their site with an overall description:

Maps and areas covered vary. The first scenario is a "bathtubbed" scenario at a larger scale covering the 18th Volksgrenadier Division vs the 106th Infantry Division. The rest are at their usual scale of each infantry figure equal to 15 and each vehicle and gun equal to 5.

Some of the scenarios are on the larger side, for example the next scenario is "Take the Twin Villages" on the battles for Rocherath and Krinkelt. It pits Kampfgruppe Muller from the 12th SS Panzer Division against elements of the US 38th Regiment/2nd Infantry Division reinforced.

Orders of battle are given in Rapid Fire game terms.

If you like "elite on elite" in a relatively unknown part of battle, on January 4th, the 17th airborne division tangled with the Führerbegleitbrigade in what is called battle of dead man's ridge.

Only one regiment of 17th had combat experience.

I'll be running the Battle of Bulge (Celles) in 6mm this Friday (11/15) at noon at Fall In. Stop by and play. Even if game board says it's full I'll make room for you! Cheers!

In about a foot and a half (+ or -) a river running the long way on the table. The table length divided into quarters LOS/LOF blocked by trees/hills. A road running parallel to the river. In the first quarter a road block. In each of the other quarters a village with a bridge over the river. The Germans get all those cats and the Americans get "Those damned Engineers" and all that artillery.

It needs a more operational rule set like Command Decision
