I really wish we (US) would stop naming warships after politicians. It is not fitting. I'd much rather she be named Enterprise, Saratoga or Yorktown, or a dozen other names honoring the nation's history.

I know that JFK was a WW II vet.

These carriers are the President Class. They are named for Presidents, not politicians. I did hear the rumor, however, Trump's name has been assigned to a rubber raft by the Pentagon.

@Apache 6: A WW2 *Navy* vet. That still carries a lot of weight in the naming discussion. Though since Carter was a submariner, he got his name on a boat instead of a target, erm, carrier.
