Met him several times in the early nineties, quite an odd character, never thought he would commit murder. Have couple of his books on my bookshelves, feels odd. Crime passionnel apparantly.. |

Me too, back when he was an ex soviet teacher trying to get his ways into France, publishing etc. He had(has a very serious problem of megalomania, wanting everyone to bow and be his follower. Oleg Sokolov called his guys from his reenactment group his moujiks. Never worked with me, who hardly follow, (maybe myself that why end up in circles;)and I never was an unconditional of the Corsican. He always came every year with a new very young (for him- still got the same ways even now that the gap got to what? 39 years of difference? mad)new female ex-student companion. also as too many Russian males, way too much booze. A flamboyant strange chap. a very sad way to end. Poor girl, awful stuff. |

Make him write the definitive Wagram and Aspern/Essling book we so badly need while in prison and give out free copies to Napoleonic buffs. |

Cerdic – I had exactly the same thought. Huge anti-climax. |

it kicked of big time on many national newssites and newspapers, a whole page in several leading Flemish newspapers here in Belgium, then he was a prominent character in the waterloo re enactment events. He did not publish a lot in English that's why he is maybe less know in the english speaking world unless you are re enactor. |
