Charlton Heston gave us many great action movies, often depicted in wargames.

My favorites, in this order…

Major Dundee
Warlord
The Buccaneer
El Cid
55 Days at Peking
Midway
Ten Commandments
Planet of the Apes

Here's a google list: link

Ben-Hur

And a pretty good (though very small) cameo roll in Tombstone.

While not particularly a fan, I do occasionally enjoy 55 Days, Khartoum, and the Warlord, and without defensible reason, you may detect guilty pleasure, The Naked Jungle.

Gaming army ants vs. people, though…

My first attempt to use Blu-Ray bookmarks to 'edit' a viewing
to excise most of his time in Midway was sadly disappointing.

Following with interest the post on the new release of that battle.

I can't believe I forgot El Cid! Still I don't think it would've cracked my top 4 but still a creditable 5th place.

I've never seen any of the "of the Apes" movies or Omega Man, so I can't comment on them.

The Private War of Major Benson is cute, maybe too cute for what most folks think of as a Charlton Heston film. The Big Country is really good, especially as I am also Gregory Peck fan.

PJ ONeill09 Nov 2019 4:32 p.m. PST

I saw The Ten Commandments on my 10th birthday.
The pairing of Heston and Brenner made the best antagonists I have ever seen.

Buck21509 Nov 2019 6:09 p.m. PST

His best cameo was in "Wayne's World 2"…

khanscom09 Nov 2019 6:34 p.m. PST

"Soylent Green" and "2 Minute Warning"

Warlord and Major Dundee my faves but I liked a lot of his work. Charlton himself said Warlord was his own personal favorite film.

Londonplod10 Nov 2019 6:07 a.m. PST

He is my favourite Long John Silver.
El Cid is a classic but l pretty much like all of his films.

Peking. That blue shirt with the sand coloured trousers/pants. Still my own favourite look….with US Marine Altama boots…gets the girl (there is now only one) every time…

Khartoum second for better acting and he does look so like Gordon. I thought L O'L was dreadful as the Mahdi….

And his voice-over narration for Disney's
"Hercules" as well as his opening monologue for "Armageddon".and his stuff in "Airport 1975" and "Earthquake",as well as the previously mentioned films. And the ad for Bud Light and his second time hosting SNL,when he falls asleep in the Green room and wakes up to the find the cast and crew are now apes.
