Hello everyone, sorry for my absence. A few of you know why, I have been reigned in, lol!

Lets talk about the show…

I was invited back as the CD for this year, we have had some staff changes, none for any bad reasons.. they are missed.

As you all know by now, the show is being held at the VFCC in Upper Marion township… Valley Forge PA…. add another hour to my drive…

The show is shaping up to live up to the standards you have grown to like and expect.

You have seen we have a lot of vendors, I should have opened up the air wall as I was informed by a few that they wanted to come and thought there was no room. If they have me back next year, I will be making that change…

As most of you know, I am very price conscious. I apologize for the late news on the electrical drop charge, but I didn't have that info for a long while. Next year, provided it is at VFCC, you will all know there is that charge. I cannot apologize more for that lateness.

On the plus side, all vendors will have free Wi-Fi and HMGS did purchase all of the vendor licenses for the show. They will be handed out on site and must be displayed in the booths.

As for games, we will have our regular compliment… lots of great ones as usual. We did have some cancellations, but there always are.

Tournaments has grown quite a bit for this year. Definitely worth checking out.

The War college is back in full force… I know the WC at Fall In! has always been weak, even though I have had some great speakers, it was not my strong suit. This year is it full and we have a lot of great new and returning speakers!

Wally's basement will look pretty great from reading through that thread!

Staff wise.. please be kind, they are all hard working and want to do their best to serve you! I will always be available and in sight, as usual! So please stop me if you have a concern or issue you need to discuss. All of your voices deserve to be heard.

Lets see… 2 hotels, all pretty much sold out, but there are still a few rooms I was told yesterday!

Parking is great, lots of room…. please be reminded that there are some lots that are close and belong to neighboring businesses, but they will be open for parking over the weekend, after 5PM Friday.

Food…. lots of close by restaurants…. both close by and in house. The VFCC is offering 10% coupons for their onsite restaurants…. unfortunately they are not good at the concession stands or the Dunkin Doughnuts…. which, is OPEN 24/7!!! The concession stands will be ballpark prices as usual for any venue.. the menu though will be all of the stuff we like… even their version of the Philly Cheesesteak!

The shopping and a few large, awesome games will all be on the Casino side… The vendor hall, tournaments and Wally's will be there. Most of the other gaming will be in the Radisson side on the ground and lower level… Maps are detailed, so no confusion on where to go or how to get there.

Load in and load out should be very easy and if assistance is needed, someone will be glad to help!

As usual, do NOT miss Hobby University! They will be on the main concourse on the way between the 2 buildings.

Now, what are folks really looking to hear? Yes, there is still time to register, please do… I still dream of hitting the 2000 attendee mark. Right now, numbers are on track to be back where they usually are (last year was a low anomaly as folks chose to go back to Hcon)… but I am trying really hard to get folks to come and hit that 2000 mark!

As a very bad follow up statement… because this was a new site, I was very frugal with my spending… I didn't go over board on anything, but I promise you, the show will be every bit as good as you have come to expect!

Please feel free to reach out to me here directly or through email or in site, my goal is to have you all have a great time. And thank you in advance for coming! If you are on the fence, I assure you.. it is going to be a great time!
And worth checking out.

Off site there is plenty to do, historic sites to visit, family activities and great dining!

thanks,
Dan

I plan to be there, maybe get more out of it than just a lurker this time.

bhall38907 Nov 2019 5:00 p.m. PST

Hey Dan, it's my first trip to Valley Forge, is there any site map info that you can share?

CoffeeCooler08 Nov 2019 6:37 a.m. PST

Thanks Dan. I am sure Fall In 2019 will be again a success. I am really looking forward to it.

I plan to be there!

Poniatowski08 Nov 2019 7:50 a.m. PST

Yes, I have all kinds of maps… I was told the place can be a warren, but I did the best I could with layout, etc…

Send me a PM or email me and I can get you anything you need to prep.

John Michael Priest08 Nov 2019 12:52 p.m. PST

My grandson and are are really looking forward to attending. Thanks for all of your help.

historygamer08 Nov 2019 12:59 p.m. PST

Furiously working last minute odds and ends for my games now.

TSD10108 Nov 2019 9:55 p.m. PST

I'll probably be hosting a pick up game Thursday night for open gaming using the What a Tanker rules. Curious how much interest there will be and how much stuff I can bring.

Also, where is registration and are tables available nearby so that people getting badges can easily see and play?

14Bore09 Nov 2019 2:09 p.m. PST

I would like to see a WWII tank game, but probably only going to make it on Saturday.

Poniatowski09 Nov 2019 6:58 p.m. PST

TSD, reg is on the ground floor of the Radisson. Badge pickup is in the lobby and near reg. Reg is in the main ball room hall.

Philly's a great town. Cept for the people.

historygamer10 Nov 2019 8:20 a.m. PST

Good thing the convention is in Valley Forge then. Good enough for George, good enough for me. FYI, but I believe the museum is closed for renovations.

When we were at The VFCC for the Historicons the site was a rat's maze. I did a recon about 6 weeks ago and it's much improved.

Think of a set of dumbbells. The weight on one end is the Marriott Building. There are 2 event levels. The upper level is the casino and the food court. We'll be on the lower level.

The weight on the other end is the Radisson Building. Once again, we are on the lowest level. There is a warren of event rooms that stretch out away from the elevator bank for a considerable amount of space.

There are likely to be some additional subsidiary spaces along the bar of the dumbbell.

The dumbbell itself is a long corridor that stretches from the Radisson lobby to the Marriott lobby. When we were there back around 2009, the corridor twisted and turned and you had to go outside at one point. With the advent of the casino they've smoothed this out.

You're gonna do some walking, but not likely much more than at The Host. You could possibly get lost, but you'd probably have to work at it.

In addition to the food court and the fooderies HMGS is having come in, the hotels have several restaurants. The Chop House is likely to induce sticker shock, but there are more than a few less "mortgage requiring" alternatives.

FWIW

See you there…

I would like to see a WWII tank game, but probably only going to make it on Saturday.

I'm running a tank and infantry game 2:00-6:00 on Saturday afternoon. North Africa June 1942 theme game: in the PEL it's listed as S: 326: 14 – Showdown in the Desert.

As someone mentioned, the Valley Forge National Park visitor center is closed for renovations. But they do have a smaller visitor center office that is open, if you drive down to the parking lot area. They have what look like trailers configured into a visitor center. They has many unusual books on the Revolution. I am sure when the main center opens again it will be nicely done.

I'm definitely in the convention but haven't figured out what's playing as the website sends me in circles .

Bowman13 Nov 2019 8:36 a.m. PST

Go to the HMGS Fall In website, click on Events (the dice symbol) and Games shows up. Clicking on that brings up the 43 page PEL. Is that what you mean?

To actually book yourself into the games click on Registration. Online registration for events lasts until the 18th.

14Bore13 Nov 2019 5:57 p.m. PST

Found the list but got no further. Registration only seems to send me back to what I've done already.
