…. The Flags of the English Armies 1642-1660

"Between 1642 and 1660 the various armies which fought the English Civil War carried literally hundreds of flags, the great majority of which have gone unrecorded. This study traces their development as the ‘free-for-all' of the first year of the war settled into one of the most elegant and sophisticated military flag systems in Europe. Covering the armies of both the King and Parliament this book examines the majority of known flags as well as discussing what can be learnt from the all too few surviving examples."

This title was dropped from Helion's list of forthcoming titles quite some months ago.
