Minden Miniatures recently added a number of new figures to its Seven Years War 1/56 scale (~30mm) range of figures. The new additions include Prussian hussars in both mirlitons and busbies and a collection of Russian Horse Grenadiers

The Russian Horse Grenadiers come in two different styles of uniforms for the rank and file (the officers and musicians always wore their blue coats regardless of the season). The regular uniform blue coat was used on parade and during cool temperature months, whereas the Summer campaigns saw the rank and file grenadiers shedding their blue coats and fighting in their long-sleeved buff colored waistcoats. Since most of the Russian vs. Prussian battles took place during the Summer months, it would be appropriate to use the waistcoat-clad troops in your wargame armies.

Very nice! I find the Horse Grenadiers are under-modeled, as the Russians made much use of them in the SYW (in contrast to the dragoons, of which exactly 3 regiments saw any action)

Love the look and especially the buff coloured waistcoats – also love the Minden Miniatures lean and mean minis

Fredrick is right, according to my research the Russians used between 3-5 "regiments" of Horse Grenadiers, usually only 3 squadrons each. Much of research says that because of lack of good mounts and lack of training they were often deployed as infantry. Any comments regarding that?

It seems that the horse grenadiers were used largely as heavy battlefield cavalry, notably at Zorndorf in 1758 as well as Paltzig and Kunersdorf in 1759.
