Sumerian Chariots in 6mm

Remember back in 2005, when I promised pictures of those Sumerian chariot stands in 6mm?

This gets brought up probably once a year, but the answers always change!

Ideally I would like to play on a 2x2 or 4x4 table. My armies are DBx based 6mm.

I don't like DBx games for this era because historical deployment doesn't tend to work.

Any suggestions would be very helpful!

Thanks friends

You should consider Hannibal. Its a big battle historical based [scenario] game Check out Little Wars TV. They have a review and a battle report online. Very cool.

+1

(and its actually titled "Age of Hannibal" if you're searching for it)

To the Strongest, played on a 4" grid, (so a 4'*3' table) would work well, with 2 elements per unit.

Another for To the Strongest. Does the trick, a treat.

Plenty of tension and decision points, fog of war, and the command
and control issues – especially Hannibal's brilliance, are dealt with elegantly and well.

Top tip, buy the chits (to draw from a bag) rather than use two decks of cards.

Hail Caesar. Simple, fast, and make you keep a battle line.

You might want to take a look at Triumph. If your 6mm figures are on 40mm WRG style basing, then it would work well on a 2'X3' table.

I have used it for Punic war battles.

The system is point based so just killing off the light troops doesn't win the battle.

Units have flanks, i.e. an individual stand does not turn for free when hit in the flank and suffers a penalty to fight.

Also pike blocks are not dismantled by skirmishers touching or immobilized by a light troop simply coming close.

I enjoy Age of Hannibal, too.

I would recommend Hail Caesar Rules. Hope it helps.

If you don't like DBX you probably won't like Triumph either.

So I've looked into Age of Hannibal and it seems to fit the bill rather nicely!

I'll also take a look at hail caesar and Triumph.

Addressing Dbx: The problem I find is that it is nearly impossible within the scope of the rules to adequately depict the triple line of the Romans, and the blade/spear interactions are kind of ridiculously in favor of the Romans, even when lines start to crumble.
