I know nothing about 3 D printing, but I have just received some 3D printed buildings for the table top. They're a little rough and ready but I'm happy to clean them up, paint and get them on the table. 1. Where there are breakages, what's the best glue to use with a typical 3D print out? 2. Can I sand or drill them with a Dremel, like I would a typical resin casting? Any toxicity to the dust produced? 3. The castings have a glossy black sheen. What's the best way to prep for painting? Something like a Plastikote primer? Sorry if these questions are very basic for you guys, but I'm just starting ! EC |

1) Just your regular superglue works great. 2) These are probably PLA or ABS plastic, so no worries about drilling or dust beyond any precautions in working with any other plastic. Be aware that the interior of the prints are mostly hollow. 3) I use a spray filler-primer, helps hide the layer lines. Any sandable primer should work great. |

To be honest if its for war games not modelling, we just prime our models which are PLA and paint. At 4 ft you won't see the lines or much detail anyway. If you are looking closer you are playing all wrong and you are wasteing the other guys time. We have had our models some years now and no sign of paint coming off or chipping and many have been occasionally dropped so its a viable approach. |

Do not prime black while outdoors on a hot sunny day. |

We know of ony one gentleman who had a problem in the UK, he had a load of models in a black box on a black seat in the sun in a black car. There was a bit of distortion but not too bad. |
