"Since the dawn of urban warfare, one of the most terrifying aspects of the fight has been not knowing what's on the other side of the wall a soldier is facing. The Army recently awarded a prize to a company that has developed a "wall-penetrating radar" that is designed to help soldiers and first responders see through those walls to identify people and potential threats…" Main page link Amicalement Armand

The fire department, and I suspect the military already have that, with thermal imagers. Using radar is a new wrinkle, I suppose. |

Based on my, abate limited, experience with Ground Penetrating Radar I'd be very surprised if its as good operationally as advertised in that piece. At least with GPR you need to have a good idea of what you're doing and what your looking for to interpret what's on the screen. First responders probably have at least some time to consider what they are looking at – but in the middle of a house clearing operation? |

Thermal imagers can't see through glass (they just see the temperature of the glass itself). You need terahertz-wave for that. |
