We got our campaign off to a big start link

Hello Anton,

You game looks great! The figures and scenery are inspirational. I like that bastion and walls. Might I inquire as to the manufacturer? I'm seeing lots of Minifigs too, makes me want to get mine painted . . .

Well with forces of Gluttonia and Boozonia I know it will be a fun campaign.

Anton Ryzbak30 Oct 2019 12:40 p.m. PST

The walls and bastions come from a now-defunct Greenfield Hobbies line from back in the 1980's (as do the figures, they are almost all from Minifigs, back when they were new releases!) The fact that the walls never got a coat of paint is a testament to my lack of focus, too many projects….not enough concentration!

I'm old enough to remember Greenfield Hobbies . . . I'm thinking of building a Vauban style fort. I'll probably use extruded foam.

Gallocelt,
Greenfield was one of the first of the resin foam companies. They did a lot of good stuff BITD.
Despite having the one in the picture I built my own in 28mm out of extruded blue foam.

In retrospect, it would have been a lot easier to use and store in 15mm!

Wow!!! So is the one in the photo the Greenfield one? Pretty amazing. I can't believe all the complexity of the ravelin! Any fortress I build will have to be scaled down to fit my table. I'll use extruded foam and figure out a good outer coating, maybe Durham's water putty.

Gallocelt,
I covered mine with cardstock glued on with Titebond wood glue and then a thin layer of latex based wallboard compound. I have taken the whole thing to all the local conventions without any damage.

On my blog there is a step-by-step of how I built it; go to this page and scroll about halfway down for the links to the postings link

Well Anton, that was a load of work for you but the results are clearly tremendous. I will be referring to your blog when I make my 15mm fortress. I would like to make a fortification that would look OK for both TYW and for the time of Vauban.

Cheers!

Gallo

Gallocelt,
If you are serious about building a model I would be happy to rough-cut the blueboard for a 15mm copy of the Greenfield model and send it to you. I have simply mountains of blue board and to would only take an hour or so to complete, all the angles and math have already been done.

Anton,

I would like to discuss this further. Is your email available on your blog?

Cheers!
