"Hundreds of Russian mercenaries are in Venezuela to prop up the "illegitimate regime" of President Nicolas Maduro, who has announced his intention to go to North Korea to break out of the isolation imposed by the U.S. and its allies, Adm. Craig Faller, head of U.S. Southern Command, said Friday at a breakfast with reporters in Washington, D.C.

"Certainly strange friends," Faller said of the recent expressions of mutual support between Maduro and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, "but it would not surprise me and we are concerned about that relationship."…"

Not really.

Communists are "communal", so like to stick together in their abject failure as a political and economic philosophy.

Only their ability to control their citizens through military means keeps them from being overthrown, which is an excellent warning to others, when people want to disarm the populace for the latest fad of the day/week/month/year/decade.

I believe you mean autocracies and dictatorships stick together. Communism is often misunderstood because it's an economic system rather than a political one. And communism, at least in its purest sense (no private property, classless society, etc.), is dead. Even China practices controlled capitalism in the international system even though its political party is nominally called the Chinese "Communist" Party.

Communism misunderstood!

Yea sure, just a bunch of poor misunderstood mass murders.

I don't see how the state can control the means of production without being the state.

Glup!

Cuprum225 Oct 2019 10:34 p.m. PST

Under communism, the state must die off))) Read Marx and Lenin;)

Nope, communism is an economic system, but it is under the control of a centralized, and usually corrupt and inept governmental bureaucracy (therefore it is political).

Of course, some/many capitalist countries suffer from the same poor and corrupt leadership.

GOOD!!! lotsa Russian DNA left in S.A. soil… Just like their future contribution to "enriching" the "sandy" clods of Syria!!!

"god" *bless* Putin and his desire to re-establish the Tsarist empire!

Except for Alaska, may he be successful in recreating the "Glory" of the "Imperial" balsa wood facade known as "Russia".

The fact is that communism only applies to economics, so in the days of the cold war the Soviet Union's political system is called socialism, not communism. Communism was the USSR's economic system. C'mon folks, that's basic Poli Sci and Econ 101 stuff.

If you search for the info on reputable sources you can see that most numbers are estimations or speculations.
