Yes, was a little slow to start and had a few side stories, however, once they got to Cuba was first rate.

Yes, I like(d) it very much, the whole way through.

Berenger nailed "Young(er) Teddy" (with a nod to Brian Keiths' "Older" portrayal in "Wind & the Lion") and of course Sam Elliott brings his OWN quality and standards to whatever movie he's in.

Gary Busey's performance as the malaria fever-ridden former Confederate General Joseph Wheeler stole the show IMO.

One of my favorites. The only quibble I have is the inclusion of the German "advisers." Otherwise a cracking good yarn with lots of historical flavor.

I like it and it sparked a interest in the period. I later learn MY Great Uncle Gus die of Malaria in Cuba.

A great little series. Berenger was terrific.

I always thought it was underrated. It is very well detailed.

My great uncle (Clay Henry Green) was a rough rider, serving in Troop E, and died alongside T.R. on the famous charge.

I always thought Rough Riders (1997) was a great film, and as others have said, Berenger was terrific as TR, so was Busey as General Wheeler. I do enjoy watching it again from time to time.

Speaking of which, I had another of my relatives serve under Wheeler for four years in the ACW, and he survived that little dust up.

They certainly insinuate that Teddy had Aspergers.
