You guys have come thru before, lets see if you can again.

I remember a teleplay/movie I saw on TV ages ago about the early days of Lincoln's administration. Lincoln, an aide, one of his sons and a Union officer, who I think was Ellsworth, were talking about how the war would be.

The officer spoke about maneuver and combat, then laid out pencils in all directions from DC on a map and spoke about something Napoleon would have killed for, telegraph, and how it would make the ACW so different than earlier wars.

I can see the Union officer in my mind, but don't remember the actor's name. I could figure it that way if I could remember. He was big in the 70's 80's playing earnest, well meaning male lead types, mostly in TV movies. I think its Steven something…

Its driving me bonkers.

Lincoln, also known as Gore Vidal's Lincoln, US miniseries 1988, starring Sam Waterston as Lincoln? Thomas Gibson as William Sprague? Have a look at Wikipeida entry. Simoles!

FWIW, that wasn't it. An interesting rendering of the tale. Who knew Robert Lincoln spent so much time in DC's houses of ill fame?
