Hi All, A friend of mine and myself have planned to paint two AWI armies in 15/18 mm. He would like to paint some figures of the Britsh Legion infantry in Tarleton which is a change in respect of the tricorn or kasket most manufacturers usually offer. Does somebody know if any manufacturer have in their catalogue such figures? Is there some other range suitable for a simple conversion? TIA for any advice. Marco |

Peter pig has legion infantry in tarletons. The figures are 15mm rather than 18mm. They are lovely miniatures. |

Peter Pig has dismounted legion in Tarletons: peterpig.co.uk/awi.html There is some questions as to what type of headgear the legion infantry wore. Troiani shows them in something similar to what the Queen's Rangers wore. You might be able to find Lee's Legion infantry – they were Tarleton type helmets. I'm mainly in 25/28mm for AWI so I'm not sure what is available. |

Thank you very much guys! We are great fans of PP figures. We were wondering if their size is compatible with Old Glory which are our main source. One solution could be not to mix PP with other minis using a thicker base. Marco |

There is no definitive source that provides a reliable description of the BL infantry uniform or headgear. So I think that you could field whatever you like and nobody can prove you wrong. |

Peter Pig figures would be very small compared to Old Glory. As much as I like them- and they are probably the best range available at the moment. IMHO if trying to match OG you may like to look at Lancashire Games who do a British legion infantryman in Tarleton "ARB07 – Tarleton Legion Infantry" (although he looks a bit too much like a dismounted cavalryman to me.) or "RWF02* – Infantry in Tarleton Advancing" from their archived FRench revolution range if you want a more regular infantry look. |

Not sure about Miniature Figurines, as they might be too small but they have some infantry in Tarleton in their French Rev. range as well. I think bruntonboy is on the right track, though. If size matters, then Lancashire Games are your best bet. |

What Der Alte Fritz said. I would add that while the what has become known as the Tarleton helmet made sense for cavalry, it would make no sense for infantry, being an ungainly headwear for foot soldiers. Note that earlier iterations of the QRs wore cocked or round hats, not the late war caps we associate them with now. |

So the 1783 clothing returns aren't much help as it was pretty much after the foot element was destroyed at Cowpens. The leather cap (not helmets) is interesting (and impractical) as most lights had moved to round hats earlier. I also find the listing of white breeches instead over trousers interesting too, and somewhat unusual. |

Thank you again to all There is no definitive source that provides a reliable description of the BL infantry uniform or headgear. So I think that you could field whatever you like and nobody can prove you wrong. I am aware there is no definitive answer as you say, it is just because I love Tarleton hat:-) To Bruntonboy: I think I'll have a go to Lancashire figures. My only concern is about the variable quality of their figures; I like the style they have but sometimes they seem to be too chunky for my tastes. M |
