Today it's time to lament a little bit….

Interesting to see the loss of the ability to make four figures with the substitution of the rather unnecessary bases.

@David: What?

Roderick Robertson Fezian20 Oct 2019 9:13 a.m. PST

I think he means that the four bases take up at least as much space as four bodies would have. I would say at least 5 bodies, looking at those two in the top row, and the three bodies in a similar space in the fourth/fifth rows. And there are certainly enough arms, heads, and stuff to make five more figures.

According to the report in the blog the oroginal frame contained enough pieces to make eight complete figures, but it was modified to remove useful pieces which were replaced with the four bases, so only four figures could be made.

Wish there was a source of plastic bodies to complete using my growing stock of extra arms/heads/weapons etcetera.

Cornelius,
check out some of the 40K threads or Dakka Dakka. They advertise several good companies that make various legs, torsos, heads that are meant to mix with the 40K lines. Many could easily pass for modern-day soldiers. They might work scale wise with your extra bits???

I bought a couple of sprues a while ago, ended up using them as extra bodies for my GCPS troops. Assuming your looking for plastic bodies for the extra parts on the sprue, the Mantic Games GCPS marines/ranger sprue could easily be modern troops with modern heads, arms/weapons and is similar scale wise (a little more beefy).

The plastic Terminator resistance figures are also very close scale wise and could also supply extra bodies.

I recently got some of the sprues in a trade. here is the original sprue:

I sure would have been miffed if I had bought them…

Yea, that's just daft, from a customer standpoint.

Thank you Roderick & David – I apologise for being so dense :)

@d88mm: That's an interesting sprue … I really can't imagine any form of "Spec Ops" using the LSW version of the SA80.
