So, the Germans make their fifth attempt to take Perbais in the early war Chain of Command campaign. This is their last chance before time slips away as will any chance of a campaign victory. Surely we can take this campaign beyond the first table? The AAR is here Palm-off at Perbais

Congratulations on finally overcoming that stubborn defence by the French, the dice finally seemed to even up in the end but it has taken five games! I'm pleased you won as that means this great campaign will continue. I thought you held your nerve well when that armoured car turned up although with hindsight the assault looks like an act of desperation.
Also I shall have to check my rules again as I don't think we've ever made a unit fall back to JOP when the Force Morale dropped to 2.

Addendum. It seems wrong to me that when you swap in a new platoon you keep the same platoon leader's self worth and the judgements on him by the men and superior of the the platoon that's been ‘wasted'…
…or have I got something else wrong?

It's an additional nuance to force morale introduced in the 1940 Handbook, much like the red dice. Eligible units have different things happen as FM declines, for example the German Schutzen platoon loses its red dice when FM drops to 4. In our case the French platoon is required to withdraw a unit to a JoP when morale hits 2 (rather than remove a JoP as is the case with other units). It doesn't change any existing rules, just adds a few new nuances.

It doesn't seem intuitive, I agree. The thinking seems to be this is not so much platoon based as company based opinion. You could argue for the case either way and I'd be happy,

Very nice work on terrain & figures …

Thanks. My terrain but my regular opponent's figures (except for the German casualties, which are mine)..
