The War of 1812 in the Upper Mississippi River Valley October 20 – Bloomington, Minnesota: 2 p.m. Pond Dakota Mission Park Author Mary Elise Antoine will speak about the War of 1812 with a focus on Dakota relations with the British, marital connections with residents of Prairie du Chien, and Dakota participation in the conflict beginning in 1811 until the end of British presence in the valley in 1815. Mary is President of the Prairie du Chien Historical Society and former curator at Villa Louis, a Wisconsin Historic Site. She is the author of two books and many articles about Wisconsin history.
