Maybe this is meant to be an early April fools post? The ACLU isnt leftist because they dont always put up with right wing positions on things.

They might see it as a slam dunk win for them. Which means collecting (really big) legal fees from the loser (i.e. state of CA.) Follow the money… ;-) |

So what makes this not current politics? |

Then I don't know what's political anymore. The article, which is also promoting "The American Conservaitve Movement", talks about the "normally leftist ACLU", the direction of the National Democratic Party and the "radical progressives of California" and finally it calls for a forced recall election for the governor. And this isn't political? |

Perhaps the ACLU is not political, but the article as a whole is. Another great example of how the relatively new 'firearms' board is relevant to wargaming. |

Yeah Bill this is splitting some fine hairs here and really needs to be on blue fez. Nothing Nothing to do with miniature gaming. |

What's got me flabbergasted is that Dick's decision to halt sales of firearms sparked a threadstorm in here, but their decision to destroy $5 USDM of weapons went unnoted. |

ACLU is not political? Either this is a different ACLU or I don't know the definition of "political". They're concerned with the law as it applies generally, and that's policy. |
Yellow Admiral | 14 Oct 2019 1:57 p.m. PST |
ACLU is not political. And yet this thread is. Not one statement in this thread has anything to do with miniatures or gaming, nor even particular firearms. There are only two conversations going on here: personal political declarations, and a meta-conversation about whether this thread is politicized. This was predicted when the Firearms board was established and given an exception to the "no politics" rule by its own creator. So, QED, I guess. - Ix |

The ACLU has historically defended the presumption of innocence in legal proceedings. It's possible that a "Red Flag" law could be written that complies with that, but the current crop don't usually come close, and California's is a real travesty. Surprising for a state that has made involuntary commitment virtually impossible. The law is also probably unconstitutional due to its vagueness on what constitutes grounds for confiscation. |
Au pas de Charge | 15 Oct 2019 7:08 a.m. PST |
The California Law may or may not be a travesty but it is being covered by many news sources. This media source seems somewhat underground and rather loose in its adjectives; using terms like "Radical Lefties" and taking factless conspiracy theories as a given which if not universally accepted are further proof that "them thar elites are laughing at you". Anyway, does everything on here have to be about wargaming? Sometimes a bit of mirth is called for. I thought the OP was posting this article to demonstrate how comically partisan NOQReport was; like a far right wing version of The Onion but written by someone devoid of talent for people who can barely read. Look at this little gem: link Soooo, the real racists are the Democrats? Based on the top presidential choices all being white? And, it seems like this is mostly important to prove someone else, someone currently serving in high office is not a racist? Or this: link Lol, just another case of poor white supremicists unable to peacefully spread their message of a white ethno-state. Oh where will the outrages of the Left end? This HAS to be parody. Otherwise, it is dancing awfully close to something pretty ugly. Wait, late entrant. This is awesome!
link I see, so the truth is being covered up by liberals. Well, thank god for this publication! Thomas Paine would doubtless want to shake the author's hand for being a brave patriot during this dark time of liberals donning MAGA hats. And, fortunately it directs you to the Patriot Intel Report which will fill you in on the "satanic" coastal elitists and the coming civil war. Nope, no conspiracy theories to see here folks, just good clean anti-evolutionary living as brought to you by Q and other patriots fighting against the deep state. Thanks for the laffs. |
