One that'll stand up to handling and then store away.

15mm, 28mm?

Good luck, and let me know when you find one! A couple of thoughts:
1. The Mediterranean style windmill which rests on the ground and only faces one way holds up a lot better than the type which pivots to catch the wind.
2. If I were starting from scratch, I would never glue the main structure to the pivot base, and never glue the sails to the main structure. Three pieces separate travel a lot better than one large complicated piece.

Also, when you habitually play with toy soldiers, it's too late to start avoiding things which drive you crazy.

Thanks for the Mellencamp reference. Made me chuckle.

Grand Manner have a range of 28mm windmills and their stuff is very robust.

I have two 15mm windmills from Things From the Basement. I believe they also do the same Mill in 28mm.
As RP suggests, do not glue the three sub parts together, and storage will be a lot safer

Just grabbed a Sarissa postmill 28mm one, planning to leave sail at least off (magnetise perhaps, or some other arrangement).
Will think about whether to attach to post too.

4Grounds European Windmill
Of course you need a bit of care not pushing it over the table, but when you do, the damage is not on the mill…
I magnetized the wings, so it stores pretty well.

I do have the 28mm version, but its also availabl in 15mm.

Yeah, yeah yeah, don't rub it in!! That was a "Buh Daaa!" moment. Soon after submitting my comment, I slapped my forehead, Hard!, and the light bulb went on, dimly, but it came on nonetheless.

and of course it is then always to late to delete..

That 60 minutes has passed before one's brain suddenly connects a few synapses..

Tell me about it. Windmill? Cheap and cheerful. The old Airfix one in OO/HO. Still going strong made by some one under licence
