You are right my friend… Italeri…. Amicalement Armand |

To be precise, Italeri with three Zevda command set figures, altered to have the same lapels and coattails, in the top righthand regiment. :0) |

I'm not sure a 3" thick guidon could even fly! Thats a lot of iron plate to carry (even on a horse). Paper flags really are better… even when you mess them up they can work. Nice set up and painting all the same! regards d |

…/ 2 "figure in the Italeri French Command set, he is standing beside his horse." Perfect for an administrative colonel perhaps, with the Divisional staff Adjutant Commandant etc. On the mounted one, I doubt any general officers saddlecloth existed with round edges like the model. Why do they do this?? regards ' d |

Thanks for the feedback, Shat. You're right, the guidon DOES look awfully chunky to me now, seeing it blown up so large! Fortunately on the gaming table at 1/72 it doesn't look quite so thickish. But in general I would agree, paper flags are so much better and I confess it was sheer laziness on my part to go with the kit one. As for the rounded edge saddle cloth, I did not know that they didn't exist for general officers in the French army. I assumed that it was sculpted this way in the Italeri command set because it may have been left simply to personal preference, as it was so often with uniforms etc. at this level of command? I dunno. |

I know what you mean Bill. Wonder if my one shows up?? link Not as pretty, but a 20 year old regiment just received its eagle and standard. No longer have eyes or paint brushes able to produce a miniature numeral, so the flags are 'hashed' shapes that look good 'at the 3 foot rule' regards davew |
