Just had my two Humbers delivered and they look absolutely superb. Lovely moulding, wheels ( I always look at the wheels on an armoured car/truck etc) look stunningly good. If it builds anywhere as nice as the raw kit looks its going to be a liitle gem.
A very quick build courtesy of Will Ward from the Braile Scale website. No idea if this contravenes the new 'policy' but I have no connection to the makers other than as a punter that parted with money to get the kits. Given the time of year, MG commerations, seemed appropiate. L |

Looks good what scale is it? But they are Daimler Dingo's :) |
Jeffers | 29 Sep 2019 6:53 a.m. PST |
No, it is a Humber Scout Car, not a Dingo. |
LeonAdler | 29 Sep 2019 6:57 a.m. PST |
its 1/72 and a very different beast to a Dingo. Its the one that Micheal Caine is in in the film Bridge to Far. L |

Leon, who are the makers, is it a plastic kit, metal, resin etc.? Thanks. |
deadhead | 29 Sep 2019 8:59 a.m. PST |
Michael Caine with a green scarf indeed. "Just in time etc…" J.O.E.Vandeleur who looked well considering he had been at Waterloo nearly 150 years earlier. |

deephorse, trying to work around the 'new policy'. Its from Dan Taylors Modelworks, injection moulded kit. Not a fast build ( not meant to be) but simple enough I reckon. L |

It is not an advert. You have added your comment about the new release's quality. It has interested punters who have responded. Sounds a win-win to me! |

I like these very much. Not colossally useful in pure wargame terms but it's not always about that. |

depneds on the ruls you use, very useful in our games. nice model leon, btw. |
deephorse | 30 Sep 2019 3:30 a.m. PST |
I don't know what "pure wargame terms" are, but such vehicles are very much part of the rules I use. |
LeonAdler | 30 Sep 2019 6:47 a.m. PST |
Well can think of lots of situations where it would come in useful to my mind but then again I tend to play at lot of games with recon/penetration themes and who can resist having their own Micheal Caine piece? lol Just trying to figure out if its cavalry twill or cord trousers for Vandeleur. And BTW cant claim any credit for the kit or the build here, not my work. L |

Just trying to figure out if its cavalry twill or cord trousers for Vandeleur. In the film or in real life? |

I think the point I was trying to make is that the Humber s/c is one of those very nice must-have vehicles that is fated to be a bit decorative [nothing wrong with that] UNLESS of course you have a way of depicting the use of communication/liason vehicles on-table. I have a very nice one which I was given years ago [it's resin so could be Cromwell] and I'll be happy to provide one for each of my armoured contingents "just because". I approve the open hatches [not one but two] as I like to populate my vehicles. |

There is some PE and other bits and bobs for these also in Dan's pipeline. |

Leon, thanks. I saw those Humber and just had to get a couple of my own which now means I don't have as much to spend on your figures at Crisis. Oh who am I kidding? I will still be picking up some more from you in a couple of weeks. |

Well get em while you can its a limited run kit job. Just made my first one and very nice it is. Only problem I had was with the front axle assembly, the drawing in the instructions doesnt make it very clear that part 26 fits in between the axle and the leaf spring on part 20. According to a mate anyone but a 'retard' would know that lol. Just finished a figure of Lt. Colonel J.O.E. Vandeleur ( as per the M Caine portrayal in ABTF) will have some pics soon, though given the strange new rules on here will have to post it elsewhere probably. L |

I think if you are showing your painting skills you will have no problem whatsoever. That is not blatant advertising. Really hope we do get to see it! |
LeonAdler | 20 Oct 2019 1:59 p.m. PST |
Not going to have the time to get it painted ('skilled' or more likey not……) much before Crisis and I cant be ----- to work around this new, in my view utterly negative, way of doing things. L |

Just done some pics of the Lt. Colonel J.O.E. Vandeleur figure in the Dan Taylor Humber.

He is absolutely superb… Great sculpt, good proportions but the pose is really "it". That is MC talking to the chap in the vehicle adjacent just as the Irish guards are starting out…straight from the film. Totally transforms what was just a vehicle (however good) after all, into a mini vignette. Inspiring work |

Ok so I still have no idea what new policy but, based on photos and comments from a satisfied customer I had a look and there's exactly what I am looking for, transfers for 5th Cuirassiers (Royal Polish) in Indochine. BINGO. Wallet down Happiness up. Cheers John |

Prof Pate, too complicated to go into here (sdee TMP TALK board) but in short nothing on the boards that could be deemed 'advertising' of new stuff. L |

Found the time to get some paint on the Humber and the Lt. Colonel J.O.E. Vandeleur figures. Theres two variations. Type A
and type B

Leon, you cunning devil! What's the difference? Is this the 20mm modellers' equivalent of How Many Differences Can You Count in … ? (I've been emailing you about a 20mm order, and this/these might also go in it. Go on, make me do it … |

Just back from another excellent Crisis show. Someone ( forgive me not remembering who…..I have trouble rembering who it is that keeps burning the toast in the morning lol) went away without all their purchases, entirely my fault. Let me know and I'll send on. Slightly different pose thats all, I'll explain in person, be a lot quicker to tell it than write it. L |

Scout cars did scout. In those circumstances they will not always meet a tank. In Normandy there were roads with bridges that could only take light vehicles. Throw your dreadful points system out, write a credible real world scenario where the bridges are weak and this sort of kit will prove a fantastic asset. |

All I will say is how good he looks for a chap his age. He must have been over 170 years of age by 1944 having served as a senior cavalry officer at Waterloo. Seriously though. There is the occasional figure that makes one shift eras completely. I had a recent St Paul Damascene moment when I saw a Vietnam War/Tet/Hue US Marine figure. I have done three dioramas since and now consider myself an expert on something I remember as an enthralled schoolkid. Then I bought a White Scout Car in resin, but with FF (2e DBe) markings. Another obsession…..I have no idea why. Ever since I first saw Is P B? Now I have it in French on DVD…brilliant But the idea of Michael Caine in a Scout Car…this will be my next project. "This bit…this is the wide bit" or some such |
