So, the above is one of the greatest scenes in film of all time. If you don't like following links, it is the scene in tGtBatU where Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez constructs an optimal pistol from the interchangeable parts of three others.

Do you have interchangeable parts on any of your minis?

For example, I just posted some goblin chariots where the driver is not an integral part of the mini. So I can swap in different types of goblin as driver. Or maybe some other figure, like a hobbit.

Most of my chariots, howdahs, and similar are built like that. I also have some early 20th Century cars where the driver has a butt magnet that works with magnetic paint on the seat so they can be swapped out. Civilians, gangsters, bootleggers, hillbillys, cops, etc. can all commandeer the jalopy. That sort of thing.

So … none, some special ones, a few, most, all?

No. Makes sense as you describe it--and especially in a factory-built vehicle contest--but my usual approach is that if something fits equally well in two armies, either that thing or one of the armies isn't sufficiently unique.

Terrain is expected to be generic, but every army is allowed one unique piece.

Sure, stands, flags, figures. Basing units to be used with several different rules, different scales.

If the same vehicles were used on the both sides of a war, like the SCW, then it is fairly easy.

Even you make the greatest pistol from parts, you still need bullets to be effective :)
