"So much is changing so quickly in our culture. One of the things that is changing quickly is how deeply we seem to hate each other. I wish I could say Christians were exempt from this trend. We're not. In fact, there are a good number of Christians who are fuelling it…" Main page link Amicalement Armand

An interesting and helpful article. Apropos to posts we make here and other places. A good one, Armand! |

Well the net has made that a bit more obvious … E.g. I can truly say I hate jihadi terrorists … As they want to kill me just because I am no one of them. And in turn I'd like to call in strikes, etc., on their heads ! |

I had a friend who said he was at the Rapid City, SD VA hospital sometime in the past. In one ward was a Sioux Indian and in another there was a Crow Indian. He claims to have asked each one why his tribe hated the other so much. He said they both gave the same response, "I don't know, but we do." Tom |

I have heard the same from other American Indians too. My friend's son is half Inuit and he got his kicked by some Crow. |

Good article. One thing he missed is that the anger is reinforced by the click-bait preference marketing of FB and other platforms. Every time you click "like" on something it adds a point in favor more similar content being served in future. FB make money from clicks, not conversations, so it will serve more and more content up to you based on those likes and clicks. Eventually you're stuck in an on-line bubble universe in which you only see that which you agree with -- you must actually work to find countering or differing views. Same-same on YouTube, Twitter, etc. |

I'll go with improved communications and increased centralization--so you just CAN'T have one answer in Alabama and another in California, or even one in England and one in France--supplemented by the Great Sort which causes us to meet and hear from only those who agree with us. Chesterton warned a century ago about using clubs and travel to avoid meeting neighbors and relatives who might disagree with us. But this guy forfeits at least 8 points on the 10-point Piepenbrink Sincerity Scale for having a course he wants to sell me. Sincere, truthful, perceptive statements are not logically incompatible with financial interest--but you won't lose much money betting against finding both in one essay. |

What does this have to do with miniatures or gaming? I'm asking for a friend whom I do not hate even if he plays with unpainted miniatures. |

My best friend always says what coopman posted. Seeing as crow ad souix were mentioned I'll post a joke I read recently. "A crow went up to a souix and said, "we used to steal all your women!" the souix replied back, "Well we saw your women and took the horses instead!" |

I'm part Native American and I thought that it was hilarious! |

I wistfully remember a time, it now seems so long ago, when people had a sense of humour and could take the mickey out of each other without anyone and everyone being offended, because it was just a joke, like the crow and souix mentioned above. |
Legion 4 | 23 Sep 2019 3:44 p.m. PST |
Yes it was funny ! And can see what a Native American or anyone else would find amusing. It is joke not meant to be racists, offensive, etc. As a sidebar, a friend of mine worked in DC in a building where some sort of American Indian Affairs(?) was housed. The many American Indians there were all big Wash. Redskins fans. They wore game jerseys, hats, T-shirts, put up posters, etc. They only took all that stuff down when someone they referred to as "The Big Chief" stopped by. When he left it was all back to being a Redskins Fans' work place. True story ! |

Elie Wiesel said something to the effect that we hate was because either we are so similar or we are so different and he was not sure which. |

Hell, I certainly hope so, would be funny if it weren't!!! Need to proof read my posts better. That should've read: Hell, I certainly hope so, wouldn't be funny if it weren't!!! |

Oh, I thought it was pretty funny too, and I'm more Amerindian than Fauxcahontis. Most of my family came from Germany and Scandinavia, I think my great-great-grandmother was scared by an Indian once though.(smile) Being part Swede, we used to be the butt of all sort of jokes and ribs, we took it in stride and joked right back at em. One of my favs. A guy and a girl are…enjoying each other's company. After he while he asks, "Are you finish?" she says, "No, I Danish." Thank you…I'll be here all week…don't forget to tip your server. |
