Hi all, i recently purchased this set of Dapol railway workers for Spanish civil war conversions.

link

A bunch of them will serve as workers' artillary crew, workers building barricades or digging trenches, workers standing around on the street. A couple of the men top right in bowlers could be factory bosses etc. The guy bottom left looks to me like he wants to be planting a big red and black flag.

I was wondering if anyone had other creative ideas for conversions or uses, especially for the guys in caps, im at a loss there!

Mostly the Spanish seemed to have used the gorillo,a sort of side cap.I think the Spanish used the kepi during the Rif War in the 20s. One of two of the guys in caps could be officers who liked and kept their kepis. Aside form that, I think like they look like trolley car conductors, but I haven't found any photos of the Madrid trolley cars, so I'm not sure how well they'd work for them. I did find one worker wearing what looked like a knit cap with a brim in front--a little filing might convert these kepi like caps to one of those.
