I am wondering if there has been a book put together that gives a TO&E overview of all the major fighting formations of WWII. I am thinking Corps, Division and Brigades. It would consist of all the major belligerents of WWII and perhaps smaller allies too. I am imagining that each TO&E would be on one or two pages. I know this information is around but it is scattered through many sources. It would be great to have it in one collection. I could study the evolution of the Panzer Division or compare US and British Armoured Divisions side by side. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

There are various such guides aimed at Wargamers, the one I tend to refer to the most is Frank Chadwicks "Armies of WW2", despite the odd inaccuracy.

I'm not aware of any single volume TO&E guide which isn't a Wargamers guide, although the WW1 Data Book by Ellis covers all combatants for WW1.

Corps in WW2 had a fairly flexible structure, divisions were the standard building blocks.

Check out the Nafziger collection. Not just one book but very thorough.

There is a Yahoo TO&E group that has a wealth of information in their files. Group is quite active and very helpful with questions. That is another possibility for you.

also not quite a book: link the PDF's give a nice graphic. Easier on my eyes.

hovering on "Support" will drop down a menulet, click on "Nafzinger orbats". It doesn't seem to be set up yet. Those aren't working links, and copy & paste to the search bar gives 404.
