…A passenger on the cruise ship captured footage of the incident and posted it to Twitter. She captioned it, "Onboard the Dutch Apple Cruises Troy Lock Sightseeing Tour and we just hit the U.S.S. Slater. Captain heard stating ‘I lost transmissions.'"… link Right here in my neck of the woods, too! |

It's a small local cruise boat (hardly big enough be called a ship) and it only rubbed against the depth charge rack of a DE (the last DE in the world). |

A docking accident, where a tour boat drifted into contact with the stern fixtures* of a moored museum ship. Seems that the headline is a bit breathless for the reality of the story. * Looks like only the depth charge rack was actually touched. And the touch was light enough that the rack was not deformed or displaced, at least as far as I could see in the video. But I don't doubt that the rack put a scratch on the side of the cruise boat. -Mark (aka: Mk 1) |
