Meh. Artistic licence using a Mameluke aide- he had a horde of sycophantic junior French and foreign officers baying around him, and in his own gaudy 'dress style' his 'entourage' was notorious!
"Go and put a uniform on" or words to that effect, once said and probably more from his brother-in-law.
