FASAfan,

Yes, basing will be the same for Brigade FNF and Regimental FNF. Have fun.

Presumably you want a single manufacturer so that all figures and the weapons carried are the same proportions (which tbh hasn't bothered me at all) I think you should look at Peter Pig, AB and Blue Moon. All are pretty complete ranges and of a pretty consistent quality. Peter Pig are the smallest, AB the most expensive but best models and Blue Moon are lanky with thick bayonets and "odd" officer's swords. I'd recommend Lancashire Games too (their hefty 18mm range rather than the previous slender 15mm) except it only really covers Union troops…which has to be one of their odder decisions.

For my AB, XAN miniatures are the best. I also have Campaign Games Miniatures, Minifigs and Essex. The ones I don't recommend are the Freikorps/QRF ones, although they have a wide variety of uniforms for different units, there is little variety of poses. The customer service of this company is very, very bad. They confuse havelocked ACW units with units from the Franco-Prussian War.

My collection includes "a cat from every village." Been collecting 15/18mm since 1976/77.

I'm only buying Blue Moon packs these days and merging them into armies primarily comprised of Old Glory figures. I use Peter Pig for Fire & Fury game markers and have one Peter Pig infantry regiment per side, since I was buying low-on-ammo figures, I figured I'd see how their riflemen look. I call the Peter Pig regiments my midget-minis and use them in the same brigades as the Blue Moon tall boys just for the heck of it.

How come 18mm has infiltrated the 15mm market? I think the Blue Moon figs are closer to 20mm than 15mm, being about 20mm from foot to top of the head.

I have figures from 20 different ranges…sizes and styles all over the place. I love them all!
