Some of the guys locally have started play DBA 3.0. I have figures for several armies and DBA 1.0. I'm looking to keep costs down so which book would you recommend I buy. De Bellis Antiquitatis Version 3.0 link or Sue Laflin-Barker's Start Ancient Wargaming Using DBA 3.0 link Someone at the club said Sue's book did a better job of explaining the rules. For those who've seen/have both are the army lists the same, have there been minor updates between the time each was published? It looks like Phil's book is larger so font size may be bigger (this is important) Thanks for your responses |

I would go with the full rulebook. It contains the entire range of army lists and the diagrams. Sue's book while very good, is aimed at the beginner… You aren't a beginner. The full rulebook is available both in softcover or hardcover. Joe Collins |

Get the full book, from LULU. Has all the text and army lists. Cheap. Get Sue's book too. Only 24$. If too expensive, get one fewer army :) It has a nice example battle (can you spot the error, if so you know the rules) There is good discussion here fanaticus.boards.net/forum also a facebook group. No official updates since publication of both books, but there is now a Kindle version of Sue's book. Get the FAQ Joe mentioned. Lots of good battle reports there too. Some example battles here link |

Bob loves me! (in a completely above-board platonic kind of way! Of course one chapter in the book on the last link is his… and a good one too!) Joe Collins |

Thanks for the replies. Lulu has just sent a 10% off coupon so that helps too. |

I bought 3.0 5 years ago. the book and the shipping costed me about $60. USD If I were you, I will buy both. Worth the price. You won't regret it. |
